Direct Deposit

Direct Deposit is a free service that automatically deposits checks from the University of Northern Iowa into any checking or savings account you choose. This service is for financial aid refunds for students. If you have questions regarding your direct deposit for payroll, please visit the Payroll page for more instuctions.  If you are a parent and would like to set up direct deposit for a Parent PLUS loan, please download the Parent Plus Direct Deposit Authorization form here

Signing up for Direct Deposit:

 

Step 1:

Log into MyUNIverse at myuniverse.uni.edu.  Select "Go to my Student Center" in the My Page tab.

 

Step 2:

To access your MyUNIverse information, you may have to enroll in Duo Authentication. To enroll in Duo, please follow the prompts, or visit: https://guide.duo.com/enrollment for step-by-step instructions.

  

Step 3:

Under your "Finances" section, select "Account Inquiry." 

 

Step 4:

Select the "Account Services" tab, choose "Bank Accounts", and click "Add Account."  

Step 5: 

Enter your routing number and bank account number. Select whether the information you entered is for a checking or savings account. Click "Next." 

  • Note: The following fields are required: Nickname, Routing Number, Account Number and Account Holder.  Only one account number can be used. 

Step 6: 

A confirmation displays with the information entered. 

  • To update your direct deposit information, please select "Manage My Bank Accounts" to delete the original account and start at Step 4 to add another bank account.
